Shakesport is a performance of Shakespeare scenework, wherein almost every element but the text itself allows for random scene selection, non-traditional/on-the-spot role assignments, and inclusion of numerous acting elements — accents, props, and more — alongside optional food and drink particular to each performance location. What are Rubs?
Rubs are a wide assortment of possible acting and improv elements the Company must add to the scene — accents, props, emotional moments, and more. As audience members arrive, they are encouraged to write down an improvisational “prompt” on a provided slip of paper. With this invitation, the Players immediately connect with the audience and bring them into the show.

A Night Built in the Moment
Set in 5 acts, each scene adds more additional elements as the night goes on, resulting in high-stakes performances of familiar plays done in wholly immersive and unique-to-the-moment ways. The notion behind the concept is to restore a sense of risk and immediacy to the text, in a freewheeling environment, recalling the feel of the original performances of this work, while also professionally executing the full potential of these wonderful Works.
